Moraware JobTracker is installed on one machine (the server) and is accessed from other machines (clients) through Internet Explorer.
Below are instructions for downloading and installing Moraware JobTracker on your server. For information on how to allow users to log in from outside your office, please see the article on Accessing JobTracker Remotely.
- Review the system requirements.
- Ask us to send you a link to the current installer via email.
- Log into your server as an Administrator. Download the installer and start the installation process by double-clicking on the installer file you just downloaded. Follow the instructions on the screens in the installer.
- If Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or SQL Server 2008 Express are not already installed on the machine, they will automatically be set up for you. You may be prompted to insert your operating system CD when IIS is installed. (Moraware JobTracker versions prior to version 3.0 will install SQL Server 2005 Express.)
- When you are prompted for the license, copy and paste the license key we sent you via email.
- During the installation, you may see dialogs asking if you want to reboot the machine. It is easiest if you do not reboot the machine until the entire installation has completed.
- The installer creates a shortcut on the desktop called "Moraware JobTracker". This shortcut connects to //computername/virtualdirectory/ where "computername" is the name of the machine where you installed JobTracker and "virtualdirectory" is the name you chose during installation. (The default virtual directory is "JobTracker".) You should be able to connect from any machine in your network to this same address.
- When you connect to JobTracker, you will be prompted for the user name and password we sent you via email.
- If you already started configuring your database on our server, we'll send you a link to download a backup of your database so that you can restore it onto your server.
