What a drawing of a countertop is worth

As we’re rolling out CounterGo, our new countertop drawing and estimating software, I’ve been hearing why fabricators are so excited about it. Okay, I’m going to say it: “a drawing of a countertop is worth 1000 words” – but it’s better than that. When you’re creating an estimate, having the drawing helps you accomplish more.

Don’t forget details

If you’re just listing the countertop dimensions of a kitchen, it’s really easy to forget something. Did you include that island? A mistake like that can cost your fabrication company big bucks, or make the homeowner pretty mad. Having a drawing ensures that you’re talking about the same set of countertops.

Make professional estimates

An example countertopA drawing on the quote shows how professional you are. We’ve seen all kinds of quotes from natural stone companies. Some are hand-written estimates, usually with very little detail. Next is a Word document, which is better, but can have inconsistent formatting.

Slightly better is using a spreadsheet, or software designed to make quotes based on line-items. But, a drawing with the countertop estimate adds a whole level of credibility to wow customers.

Help your customers visualize

Countertop customers buy with their eyes. This starts with the look of the showroom and seeing the actual material they’re going to purchase. Having a drawing of your customer’s actual kitchen is makes them even more likely to buy.

So, at the very least, drawing a countertop prevents you from making some expensive mistakes, makes you look more professional, and helps you close the deal with more customers.
